It has only been a matter of weeks since the last big update adding a new dedicated mobile app to Qlik SaaS. But now, a new self service functionality has been released which enables end users to subscribe to charts or whole sheets on a schedule and receive updates via email. It is a powerful feature and although admittedly it is not an equivalent to NPrinting, however, it replicates some if it’s most important features.
How to subscribe to a Chart Object
To use subscribe to a chart, right click on any object, and click ‘subscribe’.
Next, a popup will appear. Fill in how often you want the chart to be sent to your email and set a title for the subscription. A quick note, an SMTP server does need to be set up to enable emails to be sent out. Once happy, click ‘subscribe’. And, its as easy as that!
You will then receive an email on the schedule you set. Subscriptions can be disabled or edited in the subscription hub which is located in your profile settings.
How to subscribe to a Sheet
Subscribing to a sheet is very similar to the process above. However, once on the sheet you wish to subscribe to, click on the 3 dots in the top left corner of the screen. A menu will then appear including the option to ‘Subscribe to sheet’. Click this and you will then be able to set the schedule in the same manner as with a Qlik object. A PDF of the sheet is then attached to the email.
It is amazing to see the pace of development of the Qlik Sense SaaS Platform and I am sure there is lots more to come. If you have any questions on the above feature, please get in touch.
