Catalyst and NHS Tayside have been awarded finalist status at the DataIQ Awards for their innovative deployment of data and analytics to achieve enhanced patient outcomes.
The shortlist comes after the duo have worked in partnership to create and implemented a highly effective, live, patient flow management system; the Command Centre. Serving various hospitals, including three acute sites and over 1,000 hospital beds, the timely and accurate data provided by the Command Centre enables far better experiences and outcomes for patients. It also allows NHS Tayside to rise and respond to challenges in the patient flow/demand/capacity profile.
Barney Ulyatt, Business Development Manager at Catalyst BI said:
“We are honoured to receive the award shortlist by the highly respected DataIQ Awards. The Command Centre is a fabulous example of NHS experience and knowledge working in harmony with third party technology partners and solutions to deliver real value that has had a direct effect on improving patient care.”
Catalyst and NHS Tayside were commended for a cost saving of £70,000 per annum for the Health Board, plus that the build took just three weeks and the entire diagnostics and implementation just three months - from the initial exploratory stage and included all workings such as patient flows and acute surgical receiving wards.
Jenni Woods, Health and Business Intelligence Lead at NHS Tayside, who led the project, said:
“We are absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted for the Breakthrough with Data Award. Catalyst BI and NHS Tayside have worked tirelessly to deliver a proactive agile system with a live view of the Health Board’s current bed state. Administration time has reduced and there is a much better understanding of patient movement across specific areas of the hospital. Most importantly, the partnership between Catalyst BI and the Health and Business Intelligence Team has successfully created a common language to enable informed decision-making. We are really looking forward to the next stage of system developments that we currently have in the pipeline”
Catalyst and NHS Tayside are up against the likes of Burberry, ITV and Legal and General at the black tie awards ceremony, which will take place at The Roundhouse in London on 27 September 2023.
The DataIQ Awards honours both companies and individuals that have demonstrated excellence in the data industry. The Breakthrough with Data Award is part of the Innovation category of awards, sponsored by Innovation Stream Partner, Capgemini Invent.
